FYI
I dont think Wilcap is offering this Kit anymore... However, (I believe) Randy Maas @ 21st Century Hudson is about to offer a Conversion Kit. you might inq at (maasfh@centurylink.net)0 -
Just wondering if anyone here has done a conversion to a 700r4 or 200r4 and feedback on the swap and end result?0

Wilkap still makes (or will make) an adapter.0

I have installed Turbo 350 & 400 in my Hudson St Rods and currently finishing another Rod with a 200R4 OD. After researching the GM OD Trans I learned Both 200R4 & 400R4 need an external Lockout switch kit that screws into an existing port Pplus a apecial cable to the Throttle Linkage. These Conversion Kits & Cables are available from many sources less than $100. Additionally the Cable adjustment is very Critical and comes with detailed Instructions.
I chose the 200R4 because its physically identical to a Turbo 350 Trans whereas a 700R4 is huge and there's barely enough room in the center X to fit a T350..
TIP's
I read 200R4 will hold up to 350 HP and if you change the sprags will hold even more HP. Also Experts recommend removing the front seal then drill the return hole slightly larger and buy a 'lock retainer' to put on after the seal is installed (200R4 Only). If the hole is alread large (I forget the Dia perhaps .187) the Trans has been rebuilt and updated at some point.(The early problem they would blow out the front seal from tiny drain back hole) The Seal Retainers are available OnLine aprx $2
I also read to run the 200R4 slightly overfull because of the pickup placement.
(Now you know what I know to beef a 200R4).0 -
I just bought an adapter for a 700R4 to a Hudson big block [308] from Dany Spring.0

Adapter kits in the making--have five kits planned 3 for the early crank and 2 for the late crank. 2-3 weeks is what i am told.

Randy- are you just doing adapter for the automatics? I went so far as to actually buy a T5 Borg Warner and bell housing, and was going to get a kit from Wilcap- but he says he's not doing them any more. Have been busy so have not called him. I have a machinist friend that could get it all put together. But I would need an adapter plate, and least some idea of which flywheel to use.0

Russ and I just sent a Hudson race car to England last summer to race at Goodwood this year. I adapted the T5 World Class trans using a hydrolic clutch. Worked great. I may work up a kit for sale in near future. We had ordered a kit from Benson adapters and it was complete junk. I0

Thanks for the reply. Let me know- I could send you my bell housing, if that would help-
I had wondered about the Benson kit, too- thanks for the heads-up.
