  • I believe Kanter makes them if you cannot find a good one, I looked into it and they stated 79-99.00 per cable. I do not believe that I have one of them in my stash but I will look. Mark

I saw this guy mentioned on a forum a couple years ago, regarding where one goes for mechanical brake cables:

    George's Brake Cables
    Lebanon, PA
    717-273-9502
    717-598-7874
    brakecables1@pa.net

I can't attest to how good his product or his service is, however.

You can also try inline tube www.inlinetube.com 1-800-385-9452 they make oem lines
and e brake lines just send them the old one they in michigan
  • Thanks to all. The thing with the brake cable is the attached clip that holds it to the hub. Very hard to find.

Inline Tube does have some steel clamping parts for the E-brake cables they manufacture. Can't remember exactly what your '35 clip or clamp looks like. Attached is one of their web site pictures. Could one of those be adapted? Perhaps if you sent them a pic of the other side they could make it? Perhaps you or a local welding shop could make one like the side you do have?
  • Thanks for the web site.
  • I do not have a 35 cable in my stash of parts.

If you have a photo or sketch of the hard-to-find clip, you could send it to some of the usual Hudson vendors who advertise in the WTN. Like Carl Weber or Dave Kostansek. They have tons of older parts and have been collecting them for years, as well as fixing up and repairing old Hudsons. There's a chance that they might have the part you seek, in their piles of doo-dads. I believe Dave K. has (or had, until recently) a '35 Terraplane and might be able to offer a solution for your cable search.
  • you can get the whole cable from Kanter with the clips that go on the cable for under 100 per side and if you do it online no shipping.

ra4jumb, I don't see any specific brake cables in Kanter's online catalog. I see these below which have to be some sort of totally universal length of cable in a kit, with no specific hardware to fit anything. In other words, hardware store inventory.

    BRAKE CABLES

    Front Hand Lever Cable $77.00

    Rear - Single cable $99.00

Rear - Dual Cable $77.00 each

If you've had personal experience with this product, tell us what car you used them on and what it took to install it.

Car brake cables are absolutely CRITICAL in length, specific in hardware and we are talking about human lives behind the wheel so "maybe this will work" is a very bad idea.
  • Well I spoke to a sales guy on the phone he told me what to order I did and they look just like the originals, the online catalog sort if looks just like what you posted but what they make is based on the info that you provide, they definitely have correct brackets on them, I just have not had a chance to install yet. I will post and update on here (maybe tomorrow) when I do but length and hardware looks correct. Mark
  • Here is a pic of the cable that I got from them. Looks like the original except the anti Chafe outer sleeve.
  • Thank you very much what is that cable going on.
  • 34 Hudson Convert I have some pics in another thread entitled my next adventure or something of that sort.
