Can anyone tell me where to buy an oil pan gasket for my 1940 Super Six?

    I have used a guy local to me for lots of gaskets as well.
    Its Olsons Gaskets. If he doesnt stock it he can make it.
    Has a website also.

    I bought 2 sump gaskets for a 37T on Ebay and was disappointed when they arrived. Thin grey/black material, not the cork like material I was expecting. Barry

    Buy some gasket paper and cut your own. It's not high tech. You need a 5/16" hole punch and a sharp knife and scissors. Lay the paper on the sump and tap around with a round-head hammer to get the profile.

    If you are making your own gasket, use the top half of the sump as a sample so you get all the holes., there are THREE right at the back of the top pan.One is for the drain from the main bearing. If you use the lower pan, you will miss this SPECIAL hole.

    I love the idea of making my own, but where does one buy gasket paper? Should my local NAPA auto parts store stock that?

    Yes, any spare parts shop worth their salt should carry the material to make your gasket.

    DO NOT USE SILICONE SEALER TO SEAL THE GASKET, use gasket cement, gasket goo or even plain old grease
