Roger - I think the first one is 48-49
Your photos look to be 52-53
Interesting that they cut up different cars.
They must have felt it was a good promo.
    Wonder what happened to them?
  • Yeah , At first I thought the first one had apower brake unit there .But I think its a drivemaster. And the seat fabric is more 48-49 type. But it does have the round air cleaner .Wouldnt a 48-49 have a horizontal air filter like single twin H

Mine does but it came with a round one.
  • I cant remeber ,my 48 had a horizontal one but it was an eight, that makes a differance sometimes,

I'd rather think that first picture is of a 1950 due to the abundance of buttons in the upholstery. The round air cleaner is probably an oil bath unit like was used on the '51 up models. I believe this particular car is a C6 by looking at the manifold layout.

My 49 six had a round oil bath. Car was original , second owner.
A friends 8 cyl had the long twin H style air cleaner.

Here's a photo of a similar display (or the same one). It's from the 1952 Chicago Auto Show.

Oddly, it seems as though the later model ('52-'53) has the later hubcaps on it . . . aren't those '54's?
  • Those "54" hubcaps were actually available as accessories as early as 1951

Thanks, Arkie! I didn't know that.
  • I have a flyer from the Hudson Co. dated October 1951 showing the full disk hub caps as a new accessory on a 51 Hornet. You didnt really see them until the 54s came out. I gave it to Aaron to scan it and put it in the library. I have always called them 54 hub caps and still do out of force of habit.
  • From service merchandizer 1951.

I have four NOS wheel cover like that if anyone needs. I found a nice set of factory wires that I'm going to use instead of the caps. I paid a premium price for them so PM me with an offer or any questions.

I believe Jerry is correct. The first image is a 1950 model. In addition to the aforementioned seat upholstery, it looks to have the large back glass.
  • The caps in the flyer appear to be a cap and a beauty ring, not the one piece 54 hub cap.

Hudson Joe - They were meant to appear as a cap w/beauty ring, that was the idea at the time!
