I'm still having problems showing photos. If I go the the manage attachments and enter my photo it always seems to be too large of a file. If I keep reducing the size of my file to be attached it is so small that it can't be seen readily. I've tried going to my photo and right clicking on it and selecting "copy" (this works) and then going back to the body of the letter and try to paste using my right click button. A right click does not allow a paste for some reason. I have also tried control v for pasting but it does not work either. I know I must be doing something wrong because there are lots of photos that show up in the body of the letters. Is there some step missing here that I don't see?

  • You can also use a free photo posting site such as PhotoBucket to host your photos. Then all you have to do is use the "cut and paste" function on the site and the photo will be transferred to your post. You can use a link or put the photo in the post by choosing several methods on the site. Hope this helps.

Why can't I go from Photoshop? Its a powerful art/photo program. Also, the problem has to do with pasting to the forum not selecting to copy from my program.
  • Chaz, I've never been able to figure this out. I know the guys here have tried to explain it to me, but the best I've been able to do is post a url link to my pics. I'm apparently not as computer savvy as I thought! lol

    Hi Chaz,

I don't run the forum or know the technology being used but as a programmer I do know that the reason you can't cut and paste a picture into the WSYWIG editor is that there is not a way to resolve your computer address to the forums server address to do the upload.

Also remember your attachements to posts are not kept on disk indefinately - I'm not sure what the time limit is its in the forum rules I think.

I know the reason they only allow small attachments to posts - disk space and bandwidth costs can get out of hand.

You can create your own photo gallery on ClassicCar.Com or the MSN Hudson site to refer folks to or host the pictures on a free service like Jay suggested.

I host my own pictures that I post on the forum because I have a web server (not this machine) on my home network. If you have a network, extra pc with an OS that hosts IIS and a firewall and an extra hundred bucks a year (for a domain name and dns forwarding service) I can help you set one up.
  • I will see if we can setup a simple upload space on the server for Forum users to upload images. We had one in the past, but it was dropped because it was not used...maybe there is a need.

That would be nice. Keep it SIMPLE and well flagged for us neophites.
  • Go to "MY Documents", then go to "My Pictures". "Right Click" on the picture you want, then click "re-size. Click "advanced", then "custom". Change the numbers in the 2 boxes to around 550 each. Click the "back" button at the top left, then click the forward button. Look at the "custom" sized picture you just did, and make sure it's no larger than 38KB.Then, when you want to post a picture here, just make sure you attach the one that is no larger than 38KB. Just delete the pictures you "resized", that didn't come out to the size you need.
