38 Hudson Conv't

I found this while hunting. I called and think they want around 38-42. It certianly should stay in the club if possible. I spoke to the sales rep and he's not a Hudson guy that I could tell. This is one rare bird . Hope that someone has room and money to buy it. I think it's a bargain.

    That is some resto work. It is with out a doubt the same car. Now I know that this car is a bargain. I unfortunatley don't have the space or money but I hope some one from the club can continue to be the curator of this fabulous car.

    Definitely Kelly's car. Last place it was shown before he died was the Reno Nationals. He had it for sale then at $45K, but he was negotiable. Wish I had the $$$ to have bought it then.

    The salesman said they're asking 42,500. But then he said, Make Me an offer.

    The car was indeed restored by Kelly Hinegardner.... He was able to purchase the car from Peter K Booz. The picture below is one day a few years ago at Peter's place in the San Diego area.

    There are very few of this left... Kelly did a good job on the restoration. The car will definately appreciate as will other Hudson Convertibles. The asking price you quoted is less than what it would cost to purchase a candidate car and have it restored. Kelly did a lot of his own work, but if you put the $100-150 hour cost on the labor you will quickly see that the cost is reasonable. Add the materials and chrome the cost could be a bargin.

    My price quide is what my gut tells me divided by the available cash.

    I know of only three full-sized 1938 Hudson convertibles (not including the shorter-wheelbase 112's, or Terraplanes) still in existence, in restored condition: this one, Al Muller's old one (comes up for sale every so often), and one over in Scandinavia or the Netherlands. There is a very unrestored one for sale down in Argentina. So as you can see, supply is limited...
