engine mess solved
I had posted earlier about a 212 6 that I had pulled apart that showed connecting rods and pistons hitting leaving wear marks everywhere.[also a broken lifter]
I received many suggestions on what went wrong and appreciate the feedback and a lot of them made sense but one got me thinking because one of the cam lobes looked worn. So I miked up the cam lobes and found five lobes with wear of .005 to .020. which that the connecting rods were rubbing on the lobes and wearing them out. To be honest ,before proving this out I would never have thought that a worn fiber cam gear would be the problem.

It's not unusual to find the cam lobes worn on the nose, due to normal wear. You should check out the cam followers as well, as these can wear considerably. Both the cam and lifters can be reground. Paradoxically, Hudson continued to boast about their "roller cam followers' many years after they actually changed over to slipper type. The roller followers used in earlier motors did not wear to anywhere the degree the later ones did , due to the friction of a wiping instead of a rolling action. However, it was not possible to get a roller big enough to cope with the degree of cam change required, so the lifters became solid.

What model Hudson do you have, as I have some NOS camshafts here in Australia if needed.
