54 Hornet or Wasp stone guard fit

I am trying to get the stone guards on our 54 Hornet Hollywood to fit at the front side of the guard. Patr of it fits good but in one place I can stick my ring finger between the guard and quarter panel. The car is all painted. The front fendet extension ,rocker panels and rear quarters and behind wheel well tin is all the same curvitcher.
What can I do.
