1946-47 Overdrive Transmission

I just bought a rebuilt 46 transmission and was wondering if I could purchase a overdrive unit and install it behind my transmission? Who might have one of these rare units? Thanks.. Rich Smithen Central California Chapter..

    As far as I know you have to buy the entire transmission with overdrive, it was not an add-on unit. They're not THAT rare, incidentally...ask around and keep your eyes open.

    You have to have the trans with overdrive. The output shaft and rear of case is different. You can put a single lever stepdown trans with overdrive in a 46/47. Just have to change the bell housing from the 47 to the stepdown trans and a shorter drive shaft.

    There is a 48 Hudson for sale on Collector Car Trader Online and the add states that it has a rare factory rear window wiper. I have never seen nor heard of one of these. Has anyone?

    THe wiper was avaliable for 48 and 49. I have a NOS set (not for sale). There is a special wiper motor which mounts belor the drivers side of the rear windor. Long vac. lines go to a switch on the dash. Then hoses again to a 'T' on the normal wiper motor feed.
