54 Hornet 308 Engine Correct Serial Number?

Is 308 engine serial number 189010 the correct engine for a 54 Hornet? Thanks, Niels

    1954 Hornet starting serial number is 7269066. That is probably 1952 engine

    Daves right, probably near the end of the 1952 model run.

    So it is not the original engine in a 54 Hornet Special but one could call it a "correct" engine? Also, did the 54 engine serial #s match the car serial number? Thanks, Niels

    Engine and car numbers were the same from mid-1938 up.

    an origional 54 hornet block will start with a "7".

    they must have ommitted the prefix in 52?
