First LLOONNGG Trip!!!!

I brought Hannah Hudson, the Detroit Doll, to her new house this weekend (all driving done today). I put 225 miles on her with almost no problems.

I noticed I was running a little warm and had some knocking at 60+ mph going up some of the hills in Southern Indiana on I-64. Once flat and not under a load, the temp dropped back down. I thought all was OK.

A stop for a bio break in Evansville (about the half way point) gave a me a little concern. When I came back out to start back up, she seemed to be mis-firing one cylinder. But it was not really that bad. So I opted to move along. About 10 miles down the road, the cylinder quit altogether. So I limped to the next exit.

I opened the hood and one wire had come off the distributor. So I checked them all, at the plug and the coil. She started right back up and was even soother than before. She really wanted o go down highway now and at 60+ was running a full needle cooler than before.

Next weekend, I will replace all the wires and make sure the ends are better seated into the Dist. Cap.

Home base is now Marion, IL. The wife was offered employment at the VA Medical Center here as she retired from the Army in May (after 28 years). I just got hired at the local Pepsi franchise bottling company.

Hannah has a nice 30x40 garage to call home now.

Hannah was waiting for in her first home of Scottsburg, IN. She was purchased from the dealership that was in Madison, IN (20 miles to the east).

I will work to keep her road worthy now that I have some good highway miles done and we are working on driving her to the National meeting in French Lick.

The locals have a "Last Friday of the Month" classic car drive-in on the town square from May to September. Hannah will make a few visits.

We of the CBC are happy to hear that Hannah's in her new home! Our chapter is sorry to have lost you and your family, but wish you all a great life in Illinois. Springfield's loss is Marion's gain!

That garage is entirely too big for one Hudson. Hannah could get lonely..
  • Hannah does share the space with two others. Our next purchase is a 69 Chevelle Malibu, 350 SBC, auto trans. My wife had one when we first met but thought it best to get a "newer" car once we got engaged.

I would like to get a Super Jet with the biggest engine Hudson stuffed into it.

  • Thanks, John. I think I knew the chapter name. TallentR is a member. I am on the far edges of the club but will work to get to St. Louis with Hannah once I get the OD working.
