Thank you! My daughter posted my pic in uniform on facebook. Lots of likes.
I started the day by driving the 49 Commadore to the diner for breakfast with a couple of other car nuts. Hunted down a missing flywheel cover for the Hornet I sold, Parked the Hornet to be ready for the shipper, took the dogs around the pond, warmed my bones in the hot tub, built a fire in the wood stove, ate a nice spaghetti supper with my wife's special sauce, and watched the UConn girls destroy Stamford. Doesn't get much better than this.

Now, how about a shout out for those left behind. My wife became general contractor since we were in the middle of building a house, took care of 2 small kids, moved from mobile home to house, sold mobile home, pinched pennies, went without coffee, dropped from 135lb to 119lb, kept the old 49 Hudson going, parked on a hill and popped the clutch when the battry went, coasted downhill to save gas..and she's still with me.0

The local Shelton, WA "Yesteryear Car Club" provided the convertible carrying Lauren Bruner through the Veteran's Day Parade in nearby Elma. We were a few cars back in our '47 C-6. Note the attached info. This guy's one tough SOB. We were proud to have been a part of the event in his honor and all who have served.

These gentlemen, from so long ago, were the "quiet gentlemen." So many stories about them will go untold because they were of a generation that just went quietly doing their job and gitin' her done, as the Cable Guy would say.
Now, sadly, they are leaving us in the thousands - you can't read the obits in most newspapers today that doesn't have at least one WWII vet.
Thank you Lauren - you, and your brothers left us, your later brothers, one hell of a legacy to live up to. I hope we have done half as good, and those who are following us, as you and your buddies.
Google the USS COUGHLIN DD-606, Mr. Bruner's ship - she had a great career during the war.
