The engine colours you can see on the last picture page are green and black, shouldn't it be silver ?
My engine was most probably green as well,

    This is a near translation:
    Description
243.9 straight 8-cylinder engine, three-speed gearbox, dual exterior horns, dual fog lights, surface mounted spare wheel in pod, spoked wheels, tires with wide white page. The whole car is fully restored and in excellent condition.

And the Krona valuation is currently about $59,000 USD

Someone buy it and de-chrome and repaint the hood doors so it doesn't look so much like a Chevrolet. Those doors were originally body color.
    NICE CAR.
  • The engines in Terra 8's were green original. 1934 started to use silver. Walt.

This looks like the car that was for sale around four years ago in the US for $37,000. A nice restoration. It also had the chrome louvres and green engine, plus a very nice re-done interior.

All cars (of several I looked at) on this web site are still in the US. This company site buys them, does the paperwork and transport and puts them on your driveway in Sweden. They list over two dozen Hudsons, 3 Essex and 1 Terraplane for sale if you can find the right page to look at them. That took some doing !
  • Looks like Dillingers '33.Would a car with the external horns still have the single engine mounted horn?

No - the external horns became std. equip. when the Deluxe series were introduced in Aug. of '33. The Deluxe series also inc. dual ashtrays, dual taillights, and a Majestic radio.
Many '33 Ts have been "upgraded" with external horns & dual taillights but you can almost always tell, just by looking at the car, for the dual ashtrays as I've never seen an "upgraded" '33 where someone cut the other hole in the dash for the 2nd ashtray.
Of course the other way to identify a true Deluxe model is by the serial # for after a certain VIN # (you can find it in Butler, I've forgot it) all '33s, 6 & 8s, were Deluxe models.

imagehere's the dash in '33 T8 Deluxe conv.; you can see the left ashtray & perhaps if click on photo will show one on right edge of dash too

    yes, shows up too.
This Deluxe conv. came with nice dark green paint, a color not offered earlier in the year.
Factory info on the Deluxe series very skimpy. Hudson in dire financial straits at the time so even if you look at the sales "brochure" it was just a 1 page item & the Owners Manual the thinnest one I've ever seen. As I recall the 1 p. sales item covered both 6 & 8 models but they made a separate manual for the 6 & 8, the 8 having a red cover.
Original literature for the '33 Ts hard to find as so few made ~

My research also says the last part of the "Deluxe" T6 or T8, in addition to Pete's mentioned items, was that the grille insert was chrome plated (rather than Velchrome (argent) painted.

How did the pop out map light fit in option wise? My 33 deluxe has this , and I have seen a standard 8 with it. I have seen more 6s and 8s without it. Unfortunately I misplaced mine and its driving me crazy ...hopefully I put it somewhere safe.

I've seen it in owner's manuals so assumed they all had one.

I've seen quite a few without the hole in the dash...

My '33 model K short wb coach does not have the pop-out map light.

I thought it was a dealer installed accessory. (File under "Terraplane Trivia" and also under "Terraplania")

How to recognize the version of a Terraplane 33 (deluxe or whatever) ? My dashboard is the same except the rectangular hole on the left side, it's a 4d sedan.

'33 T8s from serial #73463 and T6s from 11865 were the Deluxe series intro. on Aug. 1.
At the beginning of the '33 model year they built the K series cars on a 106" w.b., starting serial #364125; these were discontinued in May so all Ts after than on the 113" w.b.
  • Are you saying the 6 cylinder KU (113" WB) wasn't built before May, or the short wheel base K was discontinued then?
  • oldhudsons
    oldhudsons Senior Contributor
    the K series discontinued then
  • My KU serial is 7712. can you tell me apx when this was built?
  • oldhudsons

according to Butler: " - - Series K cars were known as the Terraplane Six with Standard & Special models until May when the Standards became the Terraplane Standard Six line, the small Specials were discontinued and a larger Terraplane Special Six line was introduced. The latter was the Series KU - - with serial #s from 5001and up."
From that I'd guesstimate a serial # of 7712 was then made mid-year of '33, like June.
  • Thanks so much for that info, Oldhudsons!
