Replacing floor boards advice
Hi all,
I need to replace the floor boards on my 46 Hudson pickup and need some advice. I have a pair of Ken-U's excellent replacement floor panels and have been trying to decide where to weld them in on the rear edge.
Would it be better to remove the front seat mount reinforcement from the floor and weld in the floor panels underneath it or just wrap the replacement panels up onto the reinforcement beam and weld them there?
I believe the floor is solid underneath the reinforcement so drilling out the spot welds would add a lot of extra work to the project, but it would make a cleaner job. The cab is still attached to the frame so welding from underneath isn't really practical.
See the attached photo for a reference to the reinforcement bar in the center of the photo. The front seat frame supports bolt through the reinforcement.
Thanks in advance,
Warren

How do I reach Ken and how much did they cost? Can you show a picture of them?0

The last id I had for Kenneth on this site was: Ken U-Tx
I'll take a photo of the floor pans when I get home tonight. They appear to fit almost perfectly from door to door and are complete with punched holes for the cab mounts.
Very impressive hand-made work!0 -
Kens email address is xxxKNNU21@yahoo.com (remove the xxx). His price should be about $250 for the pair but don't quote me on that.0

Here is a photo of the floor pans. The difference in height is due to differing amounts of extra material.0

Ken is in Florida for the winter. FYI0

Ken U. who makes the 47 floors is in TX.0

For those who are looking... Ken U is currently not manufacturing any of the replacement sections for floors. He has changed occupations and no longer has access to the tools that were used to manufacture the floor panels pictured. I would suggest that if you want to reach Ken U ... a new topic be started so that he will see it if he visits the forum. Ken works nights now and does not frequent the BBS or chat as frequently.0

That's a real shame since he did excellent work. If no one else is building replacement panels perhaps I should take these somewhere and have patterns made before welding them in.0
