Carb question …..
My 49 super six sort of “stumbles†coming off idle when accelerating. I took the metering rod cover off the carb and notice that I’m only getting about 1/8th inch travel on the accelerator pump. I see that the pump piston is actuated by a spring attached to the metering rod bellcrank……are there different tension springs available to adjust the pump travel and squirter output? I moved the connecting linkage to the rear hole on the bellcrank and that helps a little, but still has the stumble like it wants a bigger squirt from the accel pump.
Thanks
Thanks

Also check that the check ball valve is in place in the pump chamber.

Thanks Bill & Geoff,
I do get a good squirt if I manually push the plunger down, so I’m thinking the check ball is in place and the piston/washer is okay. Just doesn’t seem to be as much travel on the piston as there should be. I’m used to seeing solid fixed linkage to an accel pump rather than it being actuated by pulling a spring. I’ll prolly take it apart and check the condition of the piston leather.
Thanks,
John0
