Have 35mm advertising Film Snippet of 53 Hudson Jet- need info
I came across a complete 35mm film snippet that I bought off e-bay. It is from 1953 and it advertises the Hudson Jet. The title of the snippet is "Performance and Economy". It was produced by the Wilder film company for Hudson. It comes in the original Hudson labeled container.
Any experts on Hudson film advertising out there? I'd be glad to lend it to HET for review. I havent played it but in looking at each frame, it is a very interesting piece- it reviews the excellent power to weight ratio of the Jet vs other cars.... Niels

I assume this is a filmstrip (as opposed to a movie). If so, it would be one of a series of filmstrips put out during the Step-Down years, which were meant to be accompanied by a phonograph record with a beep track that indicated when to change the image. I think several people in the Club have these, and perhaps (if you don't have the record to go along with it) you can find one of these people and con them into letting you tape record the particular record that goes with your filmstrip.0

Thats sounds like exactly what I have. Don't have a record that goes with it though. Maybe someone know a member that has a recording that goes with it. Regardless, it shows you that if it is Hudson related, someone here will know something about it. Thanks, Niels0

NHP, the film strips were sold both with and without the phono. Hudson sold them both ways so that the dealer would not have to spend the money for the specialized equipment necessary to play the phono record. The easy way to tell which one you have is to look through the film strip. If it has a naration window on the bottom of the picture it is one of the ones without the record. I have bought some with and without the record.
Also. Eldon Hostettler recorded a bunch of the filmstrips and the records onto VHS rape a few years back.. I belive they can still be purchased through the club store. I am not sure if the one you have was included in his recording.
Hope this helps0 -
I have all of the film strips and the records plus the course material that goes with them. I have the one you have as well as 15 more. They are very nice I am in the process of scanning mine into computer so I can match them up with the sound and burn them to DVD. At the rate I am going it will be a couple of years. My favorite one is "The Worlds Toughest Proving Ground Hudson Stock Car Performance". Has some really nice pictures of Hudson races.
Hudson produced these films to train sales staff. It was part of the Hudson Dealer network training program.0 -

And when you DO get them onto a DVD, please keep me in mind (I think I'll still be around in a couple years - or not, whatever). I'd love to have a copy.
Yes, scanning Hudson material is slow and tedious, but well worth knowing the material is at least somewhere in computer land, thus reasonably safe. I have a couple people that I send copies of my stuff too - I gave up trying to sell it - so I don't have the only copy. I've sent copies to the club library, but John is not a "computer dedicated" person so I'm not sure he understands what he has. Once he wakes up then the HET library can supply material much quicker and much easier by taking the material off the CD's rather than having to run them thru a copier.

Alex,
I will be sure that you get a copy. And thats another thing, I have heard that we have a club library but I have never seen anything about whats in it. It would be really beneficial to the members if we knew what was in it. And yes it has to be scanned and if the person running cannot do this maybe we can get volunteers to take parts and scan and then create a proper archive. With the stuff you and I had added we would have a fabulous Hudson Resource....haha couldn't resist.0
