53 Hornet on ebay. NO Reserve

Comments

  • Down in the description he says he will not give out the reserve price. I wonder what will happen if the car sells for a lot less than what the reserve is supposed to be, since he forgot to list the reserve. Will EBay make him sell it to the highest bidder?

Usually they say up top Reserve not met.

Far as I know, he must sell it for highest bid, since no reserve is built into the auction. My guess (from a cursory glance) is that the car will go for at least $10,000 to $13,000, given the prices that Hudsons in this condition seem to be commanding nowadays. So if he's scared that he's gonna have to settle for 6 or 7 grand, he needn't worry.

I know you are a lot more knowledgable about Hudsons than I am Jon. But, according to what the description says that still needs to be done, the rust under the paint, the way the door panels were reupholstred, and what looks like commercial office carpet, I don't believe I would pay any more than what the car is going for now, 6 to 7 grand. It will be intersesting to see what it goes for.
  • That interior job leaves a lot to be desired. None of the moldings are fitted properly. I would redo the interior.
  • it does say he reserves the right to end the auction at any time, because it is also listed for sale elsewhere. i've seen this before kinda sucks though.
  • Seeing the interior work on that car makes me even prouder of the job that I am doing on my SWasp, even though I am not a professional. The downside is that it will probably take me six months to finish at the rate I am going. (Honey do's come first, you know)

  • This auction is nuts... the price on the car with the type of interior restoration makes me realize my insured value for my 53 Wasp is TOO LOW! Guess I better not let the wife know how ... as she say.. old heap of junk .. is really worth! Good Luck to those who are bidding....
