Congratulations on your purchase of such an original car, Jim. What is the car's serial number? This will help pinpoint whether it was an early or late production car. (Alex Burr will probably step in to give you that information!)0
-
thanks jon, the serial number is 547103.0

Well, I"m surprised Alex hasn't jumped in here by now, so I'll hazard a guess, based on his excellent Hudson Handbook: yours was part of the 'second series', built after June 16, 1924. Total run was 59,427 cars. First serial number was 500001 As far as I know the coaches were built at the main factory in Detroit. Again, Alex will no doubt step in here and tell me what I've told you that's wrong!0

Jim, Where are you located? The Western Regional Meet will feature 1920's this year. Would be great to see it there, even if you have to trailer it to the meet.. Rich0

Good for you Jon - you just got to give me a chance to get up in the morning. Being retired, some days we sleep late.
1924 offerings were for a sedan and 4-P speedster (phaeton) in the 1st series cars and Sedan, Phaeton (open touring) and Coach in 2nd series.
Other than that, Jon has pretty well covered it.

thanks for all the information guys! i cant do the picture thing yet. i am located in central iowa, where is the western regional meet? this car had been sitting in a garage since 1950. where does a guy get 600-21in tires? thanks again for the information. jim0

Jim, as to things like tires and 'general' old-car items, I would suggest you subscribe to Hemmings Motor News, which has 600-800 pages of classified ads each month for parts and services covering every manner of antique car, from Austin to Zephyr. You can go online and find them at http://www.hemmings.com/ , but the paper copy fits very nicely on the w.c. tank, for leisure reading.
As to Hudson-only parts, you would be well advised to join the H-E-T so you'll get the White Triangle News (unless you're already a member, of course). http://www.hudsonclub.org/0 -
And we should mention that our club's National Meet will be as close to you as it's gonna be for a while, Jim ... Kearney, Nebraska, August 21-25. Be there and share in the fun!0

Jim, if you can't make the Wester Regional in California, consider the bigger one next door to you - the HET Club National meet, which this year is being held in Kearny, NE.

Looking forward to seeing the car. Congrats on the find. Here is Jon B's formula for posting photos.
Quickest way is to post the photo somewhere on the internet (for example, our Hudson club maintains a website for photos of various members' Hudsons). Then you obtain the URL 'address' of that photo, and post it along with your message. (When posting a message, click on the little yellow rectangle, which gives you a place to insert that URL 'address'; when you post the message, the photo will appear above or beneath it.)
When you wish to post a reply to an existing message, be sure to hit the ADVANCED button, not the QUICK REPLY button. The ADVANCED has all the bells and whistles for posting photos; the QUICK doesn't.
Another way is to upload directly here. Look for ADDITIONAL OPTIONS beneath the posting form. There you will see 'Attach Files'. Push the MANAGE ATTACHMENTS button and a new window will open, which allows you to browse your own computer's files until you find the photo you wish to publish. However, there is a size limit to photos uploaded here, and I've never managed to find anything small enough to fit!0 -

IOWA. Isn't that where they grow potatoes and the capital is Columbus. At least you are in the right state. There used to be several active members of the HET in eastern Iowa at least when I lived there. While I am talking about IOWA, Does anyone on this forum know what happened to the collection of 29 Hudsons belonging to Tom Pleasant in Hills, Iowa. He had several nice ones.0 -
i live about 10 miles from hills iowa! i can talk to a friend of mine in lone tree, doc mills he might know where tom pleasants cars ended up! doc has 3 stepdown hudsons!0

Jim,
Congrats on your purchase and I hope you can make it to the August meet in Kearney. Like Park said its close, very close and there will not be another nearby for who knows how many years!0
