voltage regulator

These things are on Ebay all the time (well, not at the moment, but often, LOL!). Or, check your WTN classifieds.
I think that the 1939 uses AutoLite VRD-4008A but check your parts manual. There is a lot of interchange on these regulators, and I'm sure someone will jump in here with a few of them.

Thanks Jon and yes the 39 does take that part number. I do hope others will post alternate numbers as I don't know what crosses over

Jon , According to the AutoLite manual the 1939 series 92 takes a VRR 4001B regulator. This is the regulator that superceeded the VRD 4008B .0

Lance, I wasn't aware of that but by the Hudson Mechanical Procedure Manual 1934 thru 1939 my car takes the VRD-4008A. The VRR 4001B may have been an update and maybe one I can also search for?0

Here is a "replacement" regulator that is supposed to fit your car. Unless you're up a creek, I'd hold out for an original AutoLite one of the exact same part number you seek, but in a pinch one of these aftermarket ones might work just fine.
