New member (many thanks for the warm welcome!) - now I have the bug and am looking for a pickup.

Researching these isn't simple, I could use some direction (pubs, blogs, serial/vin, frame#, 1942-1947 similarities / differences, etc).

Just found this on craigslist pdx: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/4957934169.html

Cheers

Take your time.  There are more '42-47 pickups out there than you might think.  And a lot of the sellers have the idea that they are very rare and therefore they can charge an arm and a leg for something that's pretty bedraggled.

Like the guy selling that Super Six on Craigslist!  Are you considering purchasing that?  If so, then what you are looking for is apparently a modified car with non-standard Hudson stuff.  You should be able to find modified cars that are in much better shape, for not that much more than this fellow is charging.

If you're looking for "the real McCoy" in a '46-7 coach, all-original, then you should be able to find something that looks good and is driveable for $10,000 or under.  If you had visions of buying something like this Craigslist car and turning it into an original, you'd spend way more than that, and a lot of your time as well.

My advice would be: shop around and don't be in a rush.  Check out cars for sale on Ebay, Craigslist and the Internet.  If you're not already a member of the H-E-T, join it and start getting the magazine, where you'll see a lot of good Hudsons for sale.  Show us some of what you've found, and we can give you some thoughts on it.  If possible, get out to some local Hudson meets this spring and summer, let people know what you're looking for -- many times, people will know about Hudsons that aren't for sale but which might be, in the near future (like estate sales or guys cutting back on their collections).  You can check the CLUB drop-down menu at the top of this page, (then go to EVENTS, then either NATIONAL, REGIONAL or CHAPTER).

Again: don't rush, and you'll find something affordable and in good condition.  And along the way you'll learn a lot and meet a lot of nice Hudson enthusiasts!

OK, I've got one in Tualatin whose owner had dropped out of the club.  He may want to sell it.

I've got another in Portland, whose owner has 8 other Hudsons.  He may want to thin them out

email me at the above link for a phone number.
