I have above and need help as to the generator charging system....from the research I've done it looks like some models had a 2 brush gen. and a single contact cut-out relay before going to the battery , while mothers had a 3 brush system with a voltage reg.....mine is the first as described and the armature lug on the gen. goes to the cut-out switch which in-turn goes to the battery.....the field terminal has a cap on it and is not hooked up to anything.....the car appears to be completely stock............is this correct????also, I have had the gen. to a reputable shop and they tell me it is charging fine, but when I put a voltmeter to the armature terminal and the other to the battery ground(+), I get no reading????what am I doing wrong???????

If the "Gen Not charging" light is going out the generator is working.  You will have a three-brush generator.  It can be converted to a two-brush with regulator.   With the engine running at a reasonable speed you should have around 7.5 volts at the armature terminal.
