Carter WA-1 968S tag

Does anyone have one of these tags for sale or a crappy carb with this tag? One of my Twin-H carb tags is down to its last strand of copper (holding it together)

  • I have an extra twin -h intake with the carbs attached and I know there's a tag on one of the carbs but I'll have to dig it out...might not be until the end of the day. If it's a 968s, it's yours.  Terry

    Dougson,

Have you checked with Daytona Parts in Florida, If they can't make you a new one I'll bet they know who can.

I don't recall what the Carter brass ID tags look like for the WA-1.  If they are like the mid-late 50s tags, they have a shape of a triangle with mounting hole in one end.   The Carter tags of the mid 50s have been reproduced for the Corvette crowd.   Also used on Chrysler products.  I bought a pair for a dual quad WCFB equipped Chrysler.  Supplied them the carb numbers and the date of manufacture and they produced the shiny new tags.   A few years ago and I don't recall the price (likely changed) but the company was in or near Chicago.
  • Here it is:   http://chicagocorvette.net/category_view.php?cat_id=1438

Maybe someone wants to order a couple dozen and get a quantity discount?  After all, two per Twin-H.
  • Dougson, the tag on the carb I was talking about is the one your looking for....if you still need it, let me know.  I'm curious as to what the "punch" marks mean on the tag( the two lower right boxes below the carb number). Is this from the factory?  Terry

It may mean they were remanufactured or rebuilt, only a guess. Anyway, thanks, I'll take it. Cost/shipping?
  • I'll put it in an envelope and drop it in the mail...it's a freebie. Pm me you address.  Terry
  • Aren't Hudson people great.
