Speaker

Okay, what can the 6 volt guys use as an alternative? Does speaker voltage matter? or is there such a thing? can we go to Radio Shack or the like, and buy a 6x9 speaker, and wire it up?

yeah, I was kind of thinking of even trying to wire an ipod thru so I could play a ton of 50's Doo Wop... all of the time... at least until i get tired of it...



Pretty sure my radio glows and hums, might actually play with a speaker....



but I sure like the ipod idea...

Just another idea to ponder. I've also converted to 12V and am going to hinge the front of the tissue dispenser and put a modern stereo inside that will be remote-controlled. Leave it open while driving, close it up and hide it when parked, and the glove box remains a place to store the gloves . . . or whatever it is we actually store in there. The original radio is staying where it is and lights up when the dash lights are on, so it still looks "original". The tissue dispenser has been mounted in the middle of the dash (underneath, of course) and made so that the driver will still be able to reach it, if necessary. Currently looking into XM, as the choices for genres are virtually unlimited. Also, as a sidenote, I'm hiding some cig. lighters (these days translation: power receptacles) in the rear for power to 'puters, DVD players, etc. Really a benefit when changing to 12V.
