Intake manifold plug

While trying to get my '49 262 super six running, I found this plug in the manifold that appears to be bent and needing to be replaced because of the gap it has.
What is this for and would it be a cause of the engine not running and sounding weak when it runs for a short while at best?
Thanks

That appears to be where the vacuum line for the wipers starts from. Normally there is a brass fitting and a steel line running over to the top input side of a double action fuel pump. If it's loose it well may be the cause of a vacuum leak causing engine problems.0

Further investigation has found a crack in the exhaust manifold.
Now I need one of them, anyone?0 -
I'll check my pile of "stuff'.0

Terrific Dave, I'll work with my fingers crossed until then.0

That is an expansion plug,, which is used to fill the hole left by the casting process.0

If it helps anyone, the casting number on my broken manifold appears to be: 112648
Thanks everyone!0 -
You should be able to get a new plug to fit the hole.0
-
The plug has now become secondary to replacing/repairing cracked exhaust manifold.0

I don't have a non-cracked exhaust manifold..Sorry0

Is there an epoxy strong enough to use on this plug?
And while I'm at it, where is the best lace to get new gaskets for this whole intake/exhaust area?
Thanks for all your help!0 -
Surprisingly had no trouble getting the plug, ordered the gaskets from R Maas
Sent you a pm
