I thought there was somebody looking for a right front fender for a 28 Essex. There is one on ebay. It is listed as a 27 but I think from the picture it is a 28 or late 27. I do not know how to post the link. Just search essex parts and i should come up. Good luck

It is in fact definitely a 1927 fender.

    Geoff.
  • Not trying to be a smartass but how can you tell so definitely by that picture. Is it the mounting holes? It looks pretty rounded off to be a 27, i thought they were more square on the top. I have seen some 27 essexes that were late 27 they were called and they were a mix of squared off 27 bodys but with rounded fenders. Hmmm. Just curious as to how you tell.

    cheers

The '28 has an upturned angle on the inner edge, not flat as this one is. Also the '28 has a dome which fits over the chassis bolt. The profile of the top of the guard is the same, but the '27 is straight down the sides at the edge, whereas the '28 has a rounded edge (not visible in the pic.) Also not visible, the '28 goes down further at the rear, as the running boards are lower.

  • You are absolutely right. When I look at my 28 fenders and the pic again, all the things you said are quite evident. Thanks for clearing that up.

    cheers

  • As for the picture of the right front fender. It is exactly like my 1927 Essex 2 door coach. That I restored in o4.
