Stick adjustment info needed

I know this has been on a gazillion times but I took out the column and need to start over fresh when I install it again. It never shifted real smooth from the first and reverse position to the second and third position. So I need the single lever/cable instructions. I know of the cable setting on the column under the hood, and the neutral setting on the column but somewhere there was a total start to finish setting instructions and I lost it. :(

Thanks, Bobby

Maybe the answer is to try it and set accordingly since all parts are worn and a book setting would not be adequate. At least the 1st, 2nd, 3rd things to do in order would help. Tanks, Bobby

Am I the only one needing a good step by step procedure for setting the cable/lever shift linkage?

If it is clear where to set the entire shifter on the column first, then the cable on column at the firewall, and last the levers on the tranny, it would help many members change from folks that are real careful going from first to second, through the neutral position, back to old fashion fast shifters, that never worry about it. Can someone post where to find such a procedure? If it does not exist, I will personally post one for Dave S's. fix-it column, after I go through the entire procedure on my own using what ever I can find in all the old motor mate manuals. Thanks, Bobby

    Bobby,

Is this what you would call "Drive-master adjustments"? If so I found this in my old "Motors Auto Repair Manual". Its for the 48-51 car and covers quite a lot of parts, compensator pins, piston valve rod, accelerator switch etc.

Bobby, I found the info in my '51 Hudson Service Manual ... will get it scanned for you in the morning (Saturday).
