How do you bench test gas tank sending unit?

we tested mine by (with the tank out, of course, since I was resealing it at the time...) hooking the wire up to it, grounding the sender on the frame somewhere, and moving the float with the key on. you need two people to check it, one to verify the guage works, and one to be under the car. It is a pretty "old fashioned" way to test, but maybe the most accurate, and fail safe. Make sure you get a clean ground.0

Well, you can get a jumper on the gage, ground the sender and play with it in the front seat, or you can hook it up and lay it on a box on it's side near the tank and play what if, or you can do like cousin Jimmy and tie a thread on the arm, mount it loosely on the tank, and pull the arm up and down while a buddy shouts out what ya got.0

get an ohm met with two pin leads, touch one to center shere wire goes, and the other on the outside edge, have someone lift and lower float and watch ohm meter should go up and down with float arm, as simple as that, BILL ALBRIGHT0

Wow Bill. I wish I knew it were that simple. Thanks!0
