What's the recommended method for replacing the universal joints on a 49 Stepdown?

Drop centre bearing carrier, undo diff flange, remove tailshaft assembly, replace UJs.

And don't change the rotary relationship of the joints.

My bigger problem was getting the bearing caps out of the yoke. What's the best method for getting them out when they're pretty much stuck in place?
