 in my '38 Terraplane have insert bearings or poured Babbitt? I don't have any Chilton's type books that go back to pre war.

    something is confusing:
      Main bearings are brass insert bearings with babbitt lining, have shims for adjustment.

     Connecting rods have babbitt poured on to the rods.  Connecting rods have removable shims to allow them to be adjusted.

    No shims were used on con rods after 1937, or on main bearings after 1941
