\'54 Hollywood wanted
Does anyone know where there's a reasonably sound-bodied '54 Hollywood for sale? I'm on the hunt for one. The body is the most important thing to me, as I have a really rusty car that needs some good sheet-metal, or its parts donated to the other. A '54 Coupe might interest me also, if its got some good sheet metal. Location is unimportant - I'd go anywhere for a Hudson.
Please e-mail me at silverfox1@shaw.ca if you know of one somewhere.
Thanks,
silverone

Hi Just my 2 cents but why not buy body parts the front fenders and hood on a sedan are the same as your Hollywood rear deck lid and rear fenders are the same as Hollywood,Coupe and Convertible.the doors are Hollywood and Convertible only but there out there to be found I found doors for my convertible that were used but not as bad as the ones on my car and a a fair price. Ken Amman in Mi. might have new front fenders and a hood as well as Al Saffaran out in Ar. might have used other parts and ad here or in the WTN might bring out parts to fit your project with out you buying another car good luck0

Thanks for the input Paul, but I think my car is pretty far gone in some critical areas as well, such as frame and structural members, so I'm weighing the pros and cons of using mine as a parts car for one that's in better shape in these areas. I guess it all comes down to which way would be cheaper in the long run, and get me rolling sooner. Unfortunately, I'm not all that good at body work, (fab and welding) so I'm faced with hiring that out if I get into major surgery. That stuff gets a bit scary at eighty or ninety bucks an hour in my area.
Hopefully, there's just one more car out there somewhere that will be just right to bail me out! If not, I guess I'll just have to do it the slower, harder way, one piece at a time.

A '54 Coupe is listed on E-Bay as a 1950 Wasp. Item Number is 2388957568. Looks like something that you're looking for, but it's rough.0

For some reason I couldn't bring this item up on my computer. maybe I'll try again tomorrow. Is it a really recently listed item?

It's listed as a "1950 Hudson superwasp" in e-bay motors and is a new listing. I'll try to send the listing to you via e-mail.0

Unfortanatly you are looking for the same thing many others are looking for. Another option would be to find an unrusted parts sedan (I don't beleive it needs to be a 54) and remove the frame sections. It is a simple matter of taking a saw-z-all and cutting them out taking way more than you think is necessary to repair out Hollywood. Then you can have either a good bodyshop or a welder put them bcak in the car. You will want to find the person to do the work before you start this project so that they can give you instructions on how much to remove.
This would be a lot cheeper than having somone fabricate the parts for you.
In anycase.. good luck. fiding any step-down hudson unrusted is not an easy task. But a Hollywood is far harder than a sedan.
You might also want to try Stu Coleman in Montanna. He parts out Hudsons and they are usually good quality parts. Maybe he can help

I finally dragged it out of the ether, '51, and you're right, it looks a bit on the rough side. However, having said that, maybe its got some decent sheet metal.
This car brings to mind another question --- Every super wasp I've seen so far had dual carbs, but this one is a single. Did the factory issue duals on its super wasps, and maybe someone changed this over, or were there some supers with only one carb when new?
Also, I've noticed lately that some of the items I'm watching on e-bay seem to have been on the net longer than I've been able to access them, as they appear sometimes with a days worth of bids already on them. This became evident again when I tried to get the ad for this coupe! Obviously it was out there, but I couldn't even get it by its number yesterday! Today, I found it by description, but it wasn't yet on the Hudson site when I went looking there! Anyone else noticing this little quirk?

I'm no expert on the '54's but a buddy bought a '54 Super Wasp Club Coupe last year and it has the original 262 with a single carb. I imagine the Twin-H set up was an option. I prefer one carb. The Twin-H looks good, but I got soured on more than one carb years ago when I had a GTO with three 2 barrels. As to your E-bay query; try getting on this way: log on to E-bay motors and type in Hudson in the search box, then select newly listed when the screen comes up.0
