I wonder if mine needs replacing? I don't ever use the headlights, but my AMP light used to come on when the car was running rough due to my vacuum leak. My speedometer also jumps around a lot, but I think it just needs cleaning and lubrication. I don't know if either of these things are actual symptoms of a bad regulator.

Ha, yeah, I didn't think so. I knew they were mechanical. I just Googled the symptoms for a bad voltage regulator, and that was the first thing they mentioned, but I'm sure they were talking about later model cars with electronic speedometers.Geoff C., N.Z. said:Speedometer has nothing to with voltage!
