Floating an Idea??

What would the feeling be around here if we changed the another Forums Software? While we do see the same problems you all are seeing, there are simply too people telling us the same thing about logging in for it to be a user problem. We are considering a change to a HTML posting system so the search engines can find your posts. Your thoughts??? (Yes, we may lose all old posts)

  • It would be a TERRIBLE loss to lose all the old posts; must be a better
    solution, in my humble opinion.
  • Why not try new software with a link to this forum, for anyone who is interested in old ports? smile.gif
  • I'd sure hate to see the old posts become inaccessable too!
Seems I'm always poking around back there somewhere!

  • Personally I have never had any problems logging on to this forum, once I correctly set my Internet Explorer 6 Favourites . I log on using http://classiccar.com/ubbthreads/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=hudson&page=&view=&sb=5&o=

This works every time for me.
My only grizzle is the "Tickle" pop-up that I usually also get when I log on.
I would also not like to lose access to the older posts. We went thru that once before & I still occasionally need to look at those.
Thasnks for all the sharing of ideas & knowledge..

  • Have trouble occassionally logging in; then the software keeps two urls up, the main one and then the subset. I'd like to see the edges in some color other than brown against brown..it's difficult to see the scroll arrow or scroll bar.
  • I would definitely NOT want to lose the previous posts. I, find them a source of needed information, almost everyday.
As someone else stated, I too, had troubles with this forum at first, but after I finally figured it out and got my favorites listing to accept it, and have had no problems since.
  • Had trouble in the past but the last month or two, no difficulty logging in. I have had some instances myself of using the mouse arrow to scroll down because of no contrast on the sidebar and the other screen staying up since I do not work with a full screen. For sure all the valuable data should be archived and accessible. Many times we can go back to a discussion and find answers or expand on the discussion to provide mor information and a link would assist in doing that to keep a previous conversation perhaps from months or years ago, "active." We have a "PARTS INTERCHANGEABILITY" posting at another site that has kept going for years and that has proved invaluable. We just have to go in and refresh it once in awhile to keep it visible and aware to folks.
