Ivan at speed...
This is the car built by HET Club Member Ivan Zaremba and Smokey Yunick...all Hudson, all the way. Ivan races it in nostalgia races up and down the west coast. It was the model for "Doc" in the upcoming movie. Color photos of this car are featured in the May/June issue of WTN, which goes to press this week...

Now That's What I'm Talking About.........

Must have been built quite a while ago. Smokey has been gone for a while now. What a history though, I would be afraid of something happening to it on the track.0

Ivan built this car in the '90's. Here's a photo of Smokey with the car in 1999. I arranged for it to be displayed in the entranceway to the SEMA show to promote Jack Clifford's display.0

That's too cool. SEMA is a big deal too. I went a couple of years as a rep for some aftermarket companies I worked for and as a guest of my ex who actually works for SEMA. I have some photos I want to post of things, but I have only got one on and now I can't get the system to take a photo again.0

If it is the same car, I saw it raced at Laguna Seca some six, or so, years ago. He could go farther into the turns before braking than many of the sports cars he was running with. A little slower coming out, but more than respectable! It brought me back to Hudsons... Walt0

I love it! You can see the guy in the midget car directly following trying to figure out how the big beast is going faster than him and even if he could go faster - how to get around a car 2x as big!0

I was VP of Markting at SEMA in the 90's. The last show I ran (2000) had 89,000 attendees and if you walked by every booth it was an 11.5 mile trip. In 2005, there were 130,000 attendees, and if you walked by every booth you covered almost 18 miles. (They added 1 million square feet to the Lost Wages convention center, and SEMA took it all.) So there's a few aftermarket buyers and sellers out there yet...0 -
