Holes in my hoods

On both my 27 'O' and 'S' on the side of the hoods, just above and below the front middle and rear louver, there is a 3/16 hole. Six in all on each side. Does anyone know what these might have been for?

    I understand these factory holes are for winter covers which would retain the heat. Likely made of canvas or some type of fabric.

    That Is Correct. They Had A Canvas Cover With Snaps That Punched Into The Holes To Hold In The Heat. Not Really Needed Here In So Cal, Tho, Bill Albright
