Looking for a Twin H

I was in the process of buying a Twin H from a guy out of the WTN but he backed out on me after I mailed the check. Nice huh? Anyway I am back in the market for one for my 54 Hornet Special coupe. Even as unique and rare as the car is, the first thing out of everyones mouth whether they are a novice or not is 'Does it have Twin H" ? Not too particular about the condition as long as I have everything to work with.

Thanks

I would try Ed Faust. Up in New York. I bought One from him last year for 350$ in excellent shape. He's a terrific guy and has alot of Parts. I'm pretty sure that he has 3 or 4 more that he could sell .

1000s of HET PARTS – Check with Ed Faust erf@bluefrog.com from Bolivar NY. I still have thousands of HET parts - NOS and used. It takes time to inventory. Call @585-593-1712 ( July 2004)

Ed is a great fellow who collected a bunch of Hudson parts when dealers were going out of business. He has provided me with many NOS parts for my Hudsons. Ken Cates

I will Bill. I was hoping to have one for the meet in June, but now that this deal I had fell through, I really woudn't have time to get one on if I find one by the event anyway, so I might as well take my time and see what's out there, price, condition, complete, not complete. The one I was originally going for was complete, restored, ready to bolt on so I was told. I thought a while back you said in a thread, you didn't have any so I just never asked.
  • I was down there late last week and Bill had a half a dozen or so intakes. He's probably got everything you need, just needs to round it up.

BTW...Thanks Bill for all your help!
  • I recently purchased a '52 Hornet coupe from Mike Mittage, see his comments about the car:

"The car is virtually complete- single carb, engine free, needs a new coil to run (I think- I got a little spark, but looks like coil was not working). Small rust through on right rear fender, trunk has a dent across it like something fell on it at one time. Broken driver's side window. Only stainless missing (actually, broken) is the door piece on passenger side. Frame appears to be very solid- I chipped off a piece of the sound deadener from frame behind front wheel, not even any surface rust. However, I have not looked at the rear frame area, as I was not aware that that was a sensitive area at the time I bought it. I do recall that when I began jacking up one side of the rear frame, it lifted less than one quarter inch before the other side began lifting as well (at that point, I put another jack under the other side so as not to "rimrack" the frame). This was an Idaho and Montana car- dry climate. Door hinges are very tight (doors hard to open- even after liberal spraying with PB Blaster). Some NOS and re-chromed pieces- bumper guards, a tail light or two, a grill piece, etc. Generator rebuilt (can't remember if I did the starter also, but in any event, it works), new voltage regulator. Have a rebuilt water pump and rebuilt fuel pump (from Dave Kostansek), new windshield (both pieces), windshield gasket and new head gasket to go with. There may be some other stuff I've forgotten about. Interior needs to be completely redone- seats are there, but there was not enough left of the door panel coverings to salvage. Has original operator's manual. Dual range Hydro, fluid looks like its supposed to."

I was going to restore, using Twin-H however I changed my mind and am going to install a 91 Camaro drive train, my Hornet has a Powerdome 308 single barrel carb., and maybe something you would consider, I took out the '52 McCord radiator today but before doing so, I filled it up and it holds water real fine with very little rust inside goose neck etc., I tried to start (engine turns over freely) however carb gaskets are shot, took out plugs and put thumb on each cylinder for idea of compression, hard for me to determine, but engine does have compression...for the purpose of blasting inside and out of car, I'm going to remove wiring harness, engine, transmission and differential all of which is for sale, pick up only in Las Vegas along with rebuilt Superior waterpump, used glass windshields, 308 headgasket. If you want to see pictures, please send me your address...
