according to the Butler book there was a Commodore Custom Eight convertible available.0 -
in '51, they built convertibles in all series except the super 8. If origional it would be a commodore 8 but 55 years later the serial number holds the truth.0

it is a model 8A & the serial # on the door post would indicate that & same # on the block if original engine in it0

Bill , According to the WTN of December 1994 there were 181 models of the Commodore Eight convertible built in 1951. I can account for one of them.0

There is one in Louisiana. Walt0

I think there is one in Jonesboro, arkansas also, are they more valuable than the hornets and other series convertibles, I would think so if there was only 181 built, someone please enlighten me.0

The eight is much more rare ,but that doesn't mean they are more valuable ($) than the Hornet. It's a matter of supply and demand. More folks want a Hornet than a Commodore.. Me I would be happy with ANY conv.0
