    Before you buy any of these, ask questions.... I believe these are a solid copper gasket... The one I am using on my 11.25:1 Hudson engine is from SCE, and it is solid copper. While this is fine for my application, it is probably not ideal for most, and installation is not the same as with a conventional head gasket. Also, don't be in a hurry when you order it. The Summit website says estimated ship date is 30 days out. These may also be available from Randy Maas. I bought mine from him 15 years (or so) ago.

    Wondering what is the negative side to a solid copper gasket,Why are they not recommended for a street application?.

    If  raising the compression up a bit is the goal, a thinner head gasket sounds attractive....that much less material you would need to remove from the cylinder head.

    The one I bought, I had to refine the profile of around all of the cylinder bores and valves.

    Again, this was about 15 years ago, and they may be different now. that's why I suggested asking questions before you buy, so there are no surprises. I still use the grey Best Gasket (graphtite?) for my street driven cars.
