Got my header and X-pipe today. Looks great I got the Black ceramic coating. Took 3 weeks to ship them up here to Canada which is about what everything from Cal takes to get here.
I will post pics of the headers on my website later and throw the link in here. Pretty complete kit comes with the gaskets, ends to weld on to the pipes that mate to the header outlets and the clamps. Can't beat that for the price.0 -
I received my clifford headers last week, two sets. There are problems with the flanges on both sets I rec. and there was some welds that were bad also. So please check the welds and the flanges ASAP!0

Yes Larry emailed me about that. Mine look ok the welds look good I will bolt it up to the block later to see how it fits.0

I don't know if this belongs in this thread, but here it is anyway - a letter to the editor which will appear in the May/June issue of the White Triangle News (at the printers now).
I bought Clay Hannah's '54 Hornet Hollywood at his estate sale. It's disassembled and nothing wired up or hooked up. The engine has a Clifford throttle body injection system on it. There were no instructions or wiring diagrams, so I couldn't hook it up. Clifford was unresponsive. I went on line and found a company, "Auto-nomics." They took over the support and service for the company that made the computer equipment that Clifford used, "AirSensor". They sent me the information I needed. If you need AirSensor parts or equipment, the address is: Auto-nomics, 8819 West Brown St., Peoria, AZ 85345, phone 623-979-4626, web www.auto-nomics.com. They seem to be good people.

Sounds like Clay Hannah was innovating on that build.
Who did you talk to at Clifford. Whenever I have a problem I call Larry he seems pretty good to me. Told him I was looking at TBI and he sent me all the pdf's that showed how to install it adjust it and how to run the software to tune it.0 -
Please install the Clifford Headers on your Hudson Engine to see if they fit all of the studs and see if you can install the Intake Manifold.
We have to send 3-sets back to Larry for a new flange kit. On one set NONE of the studs would line-up.

Went out and tried bolting it to the engine I am working on and no-go. The header will bolt on fine by itself but you can't bolt up the intake as well. Center pipes fit fine the 2 on each side are about an 1/8" out.
Back it goes thats a bummer.0 -
So is the count at six headers that don't fit the block - from a batch of what, 20 production run? How many don't we know about? How can you expect people to buy your product with possibly 50% failure rate? I take it no quality control before the product is shipped. Would make me mad to wait so long and then receive nothing but more trouble. I was hoping for a good report so I could risk an order. Gert K.0

Talked to Larry yesterday and he is replacing any defective ones. The header I got looked pretty good though the 2 outer pipers were about 1/8" off which is just enough to screw the intake fitting. This a new configuration for the header. I think now they will be more careful in checking before sending so when we get replacements and we tell you they fit ok you should be good to order. I still think they are a bargain for the price.0

Hi guys:
I have been fortunate in life to experience several professions and recieve very good training to accomplish the tasks associated with them. One of the professions I had was Quality Assurance Inspection. As part of that occupation we were taught quality is either part of the product or an after thought. If there is more than one instance of the parts being shipped are defective for the intended purpose... then qualtiy is not the primary focus. I suspect the folks at Clifford are subcontracting the headers... if so, they need to have a company QA rep at the subcontractor facility to assure the product is being manufactured defect free. Assuming the vendor has the capability or desire to make the product per specification will produce unusable products everytime. It is obvious Clifford's reputation as well as profit margins are suffering due to this oversight. At the very least the vendor should have a master tool mockup that assures the product being produced is the same everytime and that tool should faithfully represent the intended installation. Larry may not know he has this hammer ... should but may not... customer money to vendors who are not producing the desired products is a no win for everybody.
Good Luck0 -
I am still waiting for the Clifford Headers. Has anyone received their replacement headers ?0
-
Talked to Larry, the new headers are almost ready. They have setup a 308 that Larry had over at the manufacturers and they are test fitting each header to it to make sure we get a good fit this time.0

I emailed Larry today. He told me about three weeks yet, as after he gets them they are sent out for ceramic coating/polishing/etc. Apparently they had to be remanufactured (?)0
-
yes they had to make a new flange.0

I picked up my two sets of headers from Larry Saturday. One set fits OK and the other one needs some minor work to fit. We used the Clifford intake also, to check the alignment. I am using an Edmunds intake, "Should Fit ", will see by the end of the week.0

Has anyone just put the headers on without any other changes to see what the differance is. I would really like to know if it is worth the hassle and expense.0
