53 Hornet pork chops/hubcaps/Jacking
Some time ago I thought I saw unplated pork chop repros?
Does anyone know of these and the source. Is anyone doing full cover hubcaps or know of a nice alternative.Has anyone used an alternative style jack that does not use the bumper as a lifting point on the road.

I bought a hydraulic scissors jack from J.C. Whitney (#SD814861T) that has wheels to roll it under the car. I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet, but it is much better than my 53 year old bumper jack. It comes with a nice case too.0

What ever you choose for a jack solution, check it before getting out on the road. The bumper jack used with Hudsons could be jacked high enough so that the rear tires would clear the fenders. If the jack is not able to get the car high enough you will not be able to get the tire out even though you can remove the lug bolts. Also take a look at the rear of your Hornet. Behind the bumper ends on both the left and right side are square metal brackets which are hidden by the bumper corners. These brackets are the receivers for the HOOK that is in the end of the Hudson Bumper jack, so in reality the jack is placed in a place that best controls the height of the car while attempting to make the process safer.
Non Plated pork chops were cast by members of the CIC in years back. You might be surprised to know that Hudson offered the porkchops in non plated form in 1952 and 1953. I do not know the reasoning. Fact or Fiction, the availability of chromium during and post Korea was given as the reason by some of my Hudson cronies.
