  • Somebody will buy this lot and then sell them individually at Barrett and make a killing.
  • THE LAS VEGAS COLLECTOR WHO AMASSED THIS COLLECTION, MUST HAVE FALLEN ON HARD TIMES. HE CONTACTED ME ABOUT BUYING A 53 CONV ABOUT A YEAR AGO. AND BOUGHT THIS ONE ON E BAY FOR 50k. iT WAS IN fLORIDA BILL ALBRIGHT. STILL HAVE MY TWO 53 CONVERTS
  • The sellers email address belongs to KVBC, the Las Vegas NBC station. Wonder what the connection is. Or am I just weird for wondering that. Buying collection this way really makes sense if you have the dough. But I am having fun just watching it.

    Hi Ken,

I believe I mentioned (or least I think I did) to you on your next visit to Vegas, I would arrange taking you to this collection...Owner of Sunbelt Belt is also the owner of TV KVBC TV station; he probably lost interest, and I don't think this gentleman is hurting for money...I have a picture standing next to '53 Hornet I took on last visit that I arranged for five other guys who really enjoyed going back in time capsule: These georgerous collection of American History cars are kept in climate control building, sophisticated sprinkler system, a minimum of 10 people on staff also on grounds are mechanic shops, repairing, restoring many other cars. This collection will never sell/met reserve for present $185,000.- (I'd buy them) auction amount, think about 25 divided into $185,000.- equals $7,400 per car, this will never be accepted. Also not many people have land and or facility to garage these fine automobiles...Thanks for heads up on Oregon '52 Hornet, ($25,100.- didn't met reserve) I can honestly say at one time I was one of the high bidders.

While working on my '52 coupe today some a young man asked me if the car was for sale, can't believe third person in three weeks asked me the same question, what's more unbelieveable these were all young man of maximum age being 35 years old...I'm going to email him tonight to past on web-sites etc where he continue to check and get invloved with Hudson's. I've decided to remove engine, transmission etc., anyone in west coast area interested feel free to contact me, I should have everything out in next couple of days...Going to use '93 Camaro as drive train, will appreciate any and all information to help my project along, removing all glass, fenders, quarter panels, trunk and doors this weekend, will have them all sand blasted inside and out and then tow to sand blaster shop to complete interior/exterior blasting, then have entire car primed....How is your project coming along, I'm sure it will be a good one.

  • Ray... Great to see your post. That coupe will be a nice daily driver with all the emenities you need for the desert. Looking forward to seeing the inprogress and final results. Me and my best friend may come out to see you again some weekend soon.

    Cheers

    Ray, I have a '50 Pacemaker I'm building as a custom w/ '95 Corvette motor/tranny.

Are you going to blast it w/ sand or another media? I hear sand can warp the sheetmetal in spots. I have to have my donor cab/frame stripped and haven't decided to go with the dip or plastic (or other) media yet. I have a couple clients in Las Vegas and maybe next time I get up there I can see your ride?

Up to $311k, reserve not met.

Some are more valuable than others, but would have to average out at $40k, at least one million for the lot.

Hmmm. I could safely big note myself and bid $500k. I'm sure I had my wallet here somewhere......

    Good Morning Jay,

Wow, sounds like you'll have a real fine dependable/drive anywhere Hudson with custom '95 Corvette motor/trans set up, I'd like to hear more during restoration process? I'm going with '93 Camaro motor/trans with fuel injection, this is a first me, in the past I had four '53 and two '54 Hornet sedans all with Twin-H, some kept with 6 volt and others converted over to twelve and I just wanted to make a change, will keep Hudson exterior look but will make mechanically changes, look at Rambo's web-site for some great idea's with instructions.

Yesterday I stripped more of the stainless very carefully; it certainly takes patients two people and Red Devil paint scrapper.

Going to back to the shop today to remove balance of stainless trim, chrome and bring to chrome shop Monday for platting and polishing. If time permits we'll remove engine and transmission, to save space and get out the way I offer to club members for reasonable price, drive line is in good shape along with harness from headlight to taillights, obviously like all 50 plus year Hudson’s connecting ends of wire harness need to be repaired/taped.

RE: Silica/media/walnut shells blasting, I've read a great deal and still don't know which is the best, but for me I'm going to sand blast and if done properly I don't think blaster will damage anything especially undercarriage/frame etc and if he doesn't stay in one spot (this car doesn't require long and hard blasting) too long building up heat I'm not that worried?

If and when you visit Las Vegas, please give me a call my cell is (702) 285-8764 and I'll be happy to meet/show you my cars, time permitting us could have some coffee together...

Have a good day and a successful restoration,

    Ray
