Since I doubt anyone is producing the shock oil noted in the Hudson literature as a lube for the vacuum cylinders for the Drivemaster/Supermatic systems what is a good substitute?

  • Hi Dan,

You might want to try a motorcycle shop. They use shock fluid when rebuilding front ends on bikes.

  • Dan,

I forgot to mention that the weight of the (shock) oil is SAE 10.

    Hope that helps,

if sae 10 is correct, you also can try equipment dealers. Catepillar uses it in fork truck transmissions.

Hydraulic oil, used in forklifts, tip trucks, etc. Forklift service agents would have it in stock. Don't confuse it with hydraulic brake fluid. Shell Tellus 27, or Mobil DTE Light or any similar will do.
