57 Hudson Dash Pad

I have a 57 Hudson I am in the process of restoring and wonder what can be done about the dash pad. The vinyl is OK but the foam is mishapen and crumbly; I'm sure this is a common problem. Has anyone ever found a satisfactory solution to this? Are these being reproduced? Thanks for any tips.

From what I understand, It is common for this to happen to '57 dashes. I believe that the simplest solution is to find a dash from a '56, they are supposed to be better. Paul argetype would be an afficianado on this.....
  • Do not have any idea where you are located in US... But, most upholstery shops have the capability to use modern foam and make replacements for the dash top underlayment.

    Good Luck

Paul argetype would be an afficianado on this.....ahhh just as I told you CJ

who is this guy any way LOL

I would say take it to your local trim shop and get a new foam backing with a new vinyl cover made for it as stated above the 56 dash pad will also work they seam to have been made from a far better product as most 56 dash pads look just fine but most all 57's look shabby at best I have A 56 pad on one car, a old 57 pad on one and a redone pad on another I like the 56 pad best but the redone pad looks great too I hope this helps

  • Just Dashes restores all dashes, armrests, door panels, and other vinyl-covered interior pieces. They strip the part down to the metal, then redo the dash pad with all new padding and covering, then vacuum-form the material to the dash, looking as good or better than the dash did when it was new. www.justdashes.com They started business doing Challenger and Barracuda dashes and went from there. Check them out. They are NOT cheap, but they're the best out there. Much better than a simple cover or glued-on tack job.
