Steering wheel horn button removal from '54 Hornet

I am having trouble removing the horn button from the steering wheel. There are no instructions in the manual for it. I have tried placing downward pressure and twisting but nothing is happening. Any tips for this?

    Have I been making a mistake by pressing button down while turning to the left?

    No, the instructions tell you to-push down on center and turn left...

    What I meant to say is that I have been exerting pressure to the center of the ring. Maybe I should exert the pressure to the e outside of the ring?
