Really Nice 37 Terraplane on ebay
Hyman is selling this beautiful 37 Terraplane with the truck box trunk on ebay. On their online auction site they were asking $35.5K so expect the reserve to be up around that.

I think that their ask price is reasonable considering the rarity of the car and the quality of the restoration. You couldn't do one for that amount!0

That is a nice car! I really like the color for some reason. If you look at my avator you will see I restored mine in the same exterior color. I'm only asking $13,000 for mine. Take a look at it at classiccars photo gallery.0

I agree, partly because I have one of these, although in a lot more pieces than what you see here. The only issue is that the engine in this sale car isn't right. The car shown has the distributor at the rear of the engine block. I think that makes it a '40 engine or later, no doubt one of you can say for sure. My '37 has the distributor on the lower right (passenger) side of the block, just behind the oil pump. This is not in any way a criticism of this super nice makes-me-salivate-just-looking-at-it Terraplane.0

Beware. It does indeed look like the engine is from a later (than '37) Hudson 212, and I'm pretty sure someone has cut and modified the firewall to accommodate the distributor at the back of the block. So, if anyone is looking for something that's completely stock, be aware that this one's been 'cut'. Certainly a small criticism, but something of which a potential buyer ought to be aware.0

Gee, Jon, if you're right, the car's ruined. Since it's already cut, somebody is justifed in dropping in a 350/770R4, Mustang II front clip, fat tires, and you'd really have something to brag about. OR you could stop and consider that this engine replacement could have been done anytime between 1940 and now. Putting in a later model engine of the same size and make to replace a tired engine was common from the war years right through the 60's. This could have been done by a Hudson dealer in 1947. I, for one, wouldn't kick it out of the garage for eating crackers...0

I have ads from the 50's where Hudson is offering to replace the engines in your 30's to 50's Hudson with a refurbished unit so this makes this car period correct and would not affect the price very much.0

My 47 pickup has a 212 engine that we installed in a 37 Terraplane around 47 or48. May have just been a short block as it still has the Terraplane power dome head. The 37 was wrecked not long after and we bought the wreck. Engine sat around the shop for several years and my Dad put it in the truck. Lots of engines were changed in those days.0
