Hi.

I'm looking for any information about Essex. Plans, parts list and all that kind of stuff. I'm trying to find fuel system plans which i need the most.

I'd like to rebuild this car but its hard to find any precise plans.

If someone can help me or direct me to place where i can find help i'll be gratefull :)

This would be a rare car, so definitely worth restoring. If you're not already a member, I would suggest joining the H-E-T Club, which is a great source of parts, information and provides a network of helpful people (a number of whom own Essexes). Info is at http://www.hudsonclub.org/ .

I rather doubt you will find any detailed plans (with critical dimensions for restoring), however. You may in fact find someone with a similar car that you can measure and photograph. The Club Store has more and more shop manual reprints every year, for sale. But you might also want to check some of the on-line antique car literature sellers, such as www.autolit.com .

Some of those late-20's cars didn't have a specific manual per se; rather, they used the shop manual for a couple years earlier, then had a supplement for the specific year, which was meant to go along with the older shop manual. The H-E-T international roster lists the cars owned by each member; so, you can find someone with a '30 Essex and ask him for information (like, where does one find a shop manual).

    Good luck with your restoration!

As Jon indicated joiing the HET club would help a lot. You would have access to the HET club library and the club librarian could send you copies of any factory technical drawing with dimensions that may exist.
  • I don't know why, but i don't have an access to see the hudsonclub.org page even /membership.html where people can join the club (403 http error ;(

Any way thx for answering this topic. Its not easy to 'put life' in tha car but with my dad we do our best :)

Which browser are you using to view the Internet -- Internet Explorer? Netscape? And, are you using the latest version?

It is possible that you are using a browser that is incompatible with our website.
  • i have IE 6.0 and i tried on the latest Opera. In both cases the efect was the same

"You don't have permission to access / on this server."

    "Forbiden 403 HTTP error" ;(

i send that link to a couple of my frends. Almost all had the same problem as me (only one did not)

I conect to the internet by LAN network and dinamic IP. Perhaps those arethe reason if this error.

I had a similar problem getting on to this Forum site from time to time and got the same #403 Forbidden error. It turned out to be my IP address and CC Forums had that range blocked due to spamming from our part of the world! They made some changes their end and all is now OK.

Try e-mailing the webmaster at "hetwebmaster@hudsonclub.org" with your IP address tell them the issues and see if that helps. Good luck.

  • The fuel system is pretty simple. Gas line from gas tank to stewart vacuum tank. Gas line from bottom of vacuum tank to carb. Vacuum line from intake to vacuum tank.

    Have a nice day

2 things, first there is no permission issue on HudsonClub.org. If you click on Jon's link above and you get the error, let me know.

Re Essex, There is a 1926 Hudson and Essex service manual. It was updated via supplement through 1931. The Hudson Club Store has it for sale. If you join the club and have need for any other information drop me a line. I should be able to point you in the right direction
