Okay, so here is the situation thus far:
Zesaraiva says the Bendix is definitely broken. He will let us know which model of Autolite starter is in his car. Then we will know whether he needs the Autolite EBA 33, or the Autolite EBB 7 bendix drive. (Eddie, thank you for this information!)
So, when we find out which bendix drive Zesaraiva needs, does anyone know where he can buy a nice rebuilt one? Remember, he lives in Brazil!

Fellow Hudsonites: Zesaraiva has an AutoLite MZ-4164 starter (so he must have a 1951 Pacemaker). Can anyone confirm the Bendix drive number for this starter? Does anyone know whre Zesaraiva can find either a new one, or a very good used one?

The starter drive pinion assemblies are the same for all non-auto starters '48-54.0

Thank you, Geoff. So, according to EddieHudson, that would be an EBB-7, for manual transmission. Assuming Zesaraiva's '51 Pacemaker has manual transmission....0
