UNDER DASH OIL EYE

Could some one tell me what this is and what year this goes in. I just got a NOS thing called an oil eye in the box with instructions that say it goes under the dash and oil lines hook up to it and when you push a botton it tells you if your oil is low. Can any one tell me about it thanks.

    Wouldn't be surprised if it was for a truck or tractor/crane etc. Doubt a car driver could be bothered. The instructions mentioned plastic.. So it would be post war. The instructions have spelling mistakes... Couldn't spell length or through... Suggestion it might be a small time inventor or backyard engineer from a non English background... Certainly an interesting find... Thanks for showing it cheers ken
