1937-47 convertible header rail
I'm investigating the possibility of having a company re-make a few convertible top header rails (the part of the top frame that sits over the windshield). These would probably interchange for 1937-39 and might even (with some modifications) fit up to 1947. In many cases they have deteriorated over the years and some guys have gone to individual woodworkers, with varying results on quality, fit and price.
Judging from what others have paid, I would imagine the cost will run $500 or more, but one would hope that by ordering in quantity we can get a good product at somewhat of a discount. The thought is, to have a prototype header made which can then be fit to Hudsons of different years, to verify precise fit before multiples are made.
The part number for 1937 models is 122705; if anyone has the 1950 (?) interchange manual, I'd appreciate finding out what other years this fits.
If anyone owns a convertible of this era and is interested in having a new header made, please contact me at HETdetailed@verizon.net (delete the HET before sending). If you know of a good woodworking shop that has turned out something like this before, I'd love to get their name and phone number.

Jon,
The fit on the 37 Terraplane and 37 Hudson for the repo uninstalled head rail I have is identical. I will take it to Oak Bows in Chambersburg next Friday to get a quote.
Bill, I was going to ship the head rail to Jon so that he could confirm the fit against his 37. Does it make sense for him to then ship it to you. I suppose you could check the fit against your 41 and note the differences I think that would be helpful if you have nothing to go by or if you two want to combine your order into one to save some dollars.
