 Hello everyone is there a spring that goes on the cable that goes to the transmission that is used for first and reverse??

    1948 super sox  Ist & reverse shift cable, should it have a spring connected to it?/

    There isn’t one on my 46 coupe and it’s the same set up on your stepdown.  There is a rubber boot on each end to protect the Bowden cable.  Also check the condition of the shift rod rubber bushing. Wildrick has them if yours is deteriorated.  Adjustment is covered in the mechanical procedure manual.
