Help....Waterpump still leaking :(
Well I removed the pump and cleaned and made new gaskets and put the pump back together and I still have a leak, not from the gaskets or the drain plug but from the neck where the fan bolts to there is a 3/8 hole and Im gettin water dripping out of it at a steady drible. Is the hole for grease for the shaft that runs through the waterpump? I
f so what should I use to plug this hole up bee's wax? or is there an actual grease that I can use that would stop the coolant from leaking? Or should I just plug it up with something like a rubber plug to stop the drible. Its a shame I pulled everything off the motor cleaned it all up, put new gaskets on it and a new plug and all along it was leaking from this mystery hole.....bummer OH well I guess a newby Hudson owner has got to make mistakes LOL The car is a 51' Wasp with a 262. Any advice guys would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Brent,
Sounds to me like you're talking about the weep hole on the pump. My understanding is that an occasion drip (from weep hole) may be OK but constant leaking would suggest that you need a rebuild. Sorry, but wax or grease won't solve your problem.
Good luck,

You Have A Bad Water Pump It Sounds Like The Front Seal Is Gone On The Shaft What Your Looing At Is The Weep Hole For The Front Seal When It Fails The Pump Will Leak There I Would Install A New Or Rebuilt Water Pump Dave Kostansek Fom Ohio Rebuilds Them He's Got And Ad In The Wth0

Does anybody have Daves contact info? I was kind of wondering the samething, since its really dribling. What do rebuilds cost? I couldnt plug the weep hole just to see what would happen? but I think it will just find another way out i.e. the front. Its kind of sad since the pump turns great there was nothing in that hole when I took it apart would there have been grease in there originally? The pump seems to be turning fine and water circulating its just leaking out of the hole is it because there is no grease at all in the hole?

Brent,
Rebuilt pump on eBay right now. Looks like an OLD rebuild though. BTW, no grease goes into a weep hole.

If interested, I just listed following waterpump on eBay auction with item # 4643649443

Rebuilt pumps $75.00 exch. $100. outright. Dave Kostansek or Tim Cheney
440-994-9173 or 440-293-4079. Before 8 pm E time0 -
Second the vote to get one from Dave or Tim. Then, you'll be done with it. You never know what you'll get on ebay. Hudson water pumps aren't like Brand X water pumps.0

Sorry, Ray, I wasn't referring to your ebay auction! Just a general comment (jeez...)0
